How do I install it?
Four steps, about a minute. Step 3 uses Terminal — don't worry, it's just copy and paste.
- Click Download latest and download the .dmg: AppleSilicon for Macs with Apple chips (M1 or later), Intel for Intel Macs. Not sure? Choose → About This Mac and look for “Chip” or “Processor”.
- Double-click the dmg to open it, then drag Flione into the Applications folder next to it.
- Open Terminal: press ⌘ + Space for Spotlight, type Terminal, and press Return.
- Click Copy at the top right of the black box below, go back to Terminal, press ⌘ + V to paste, then press Return. Flione opens; after that, open it from Applications as usual.

Is Flione a Jellyfin client for Mac?
Yes. Flione is a native macOS Jellyfin client built for music: connect to your own Jellyfin server and browse albums, artists, genres, and playlists, with gapless playback, synced lyrics, media keys, and Control Center.
Can I use YouTube Music on a Mac?
Yes. Flione is also a YouTube Music desktop player for Mac: sign in with Google and browse your saved albums, liked songs, and playlists in all three views, without a browser tab.
Is Flione free?
Yes. No in-app purchases and no Flione account. Download it and go.
Why paste a Terminal command?
Flione is a free, self-signed app that isn't notarized by Apple. I don't make apps for a living; I just build small things I find useful and good-looking, and Apple's yearly developer fee isn't in the budget… So macOS blocks the first launch. This line only removes the quarantine flag added when you downloaded it, then opens Flione. It changes nothing else, and you only need to do it once.
What do I need?
macOS 14 or later (Liquid Glass needs macOS 26), and a Jellyfin server or a YouTube Music account. Pick a music source on the sign-in screen the first time you open it.
Anything to know about YouTube Music?
YouTube Premium is recommended: free accounts may hear ads during playback. Flione uses the unofficial InnerTube API, which can break for a while when Google changes it.
Does Flione collect my data?
No. No Flione account, no analytics, no tracking; it only connects to the music source you choose. Jellyfin sign-in lives in the Keychain, and YouTube Music signs in with Google without storing a password. AI Discover runs entirely on your Mac too.
Why make Flione?
Flione began with a self-hosted Jellyfin server. An iTunes library built over twenty-some years was re-imported and became a private music stream.
The music was back, but the players that worked with it looked plain and dated. So Flione was made: a sidebar like Spotify's, a wall of covers that drifts slowly and lays out years of taste, and the original Cover Flow from early Mac OS X.
Flione is a renaissance for collecting music: truly owning your music, not just streaming it.
Where does the name come from?
Jellyfin and Infinity share "fin", which gives the F; "lione" comes from Clione, the sea angel. The three views are three ways a sea angel moves through an ocean of music: Modern is everyday drifting, Infinity heads into the deep, and Cover Flow glides through a floating swarm.
Can I build it from source?
Yes. Follow the README and build it with Xcode.
